The Thing about Facebook...
The thing about Facebook is it is a place where everybody gets updates about everybody. Whether they are somebody whom you care deeply or not.
The thing about Facebook is that it acts like a personal portfolio. Showcasing your interests and abilities so that others who have similar interests can make friends with you.
The thing about Facebook is that it allows people to remain in knowing of each other. Your primary school friends, your secondary school friends... It allows you to know what they have been up to recently without having to call them personally.
The thing about Facebook is that it allows people to find their friends. Those whom they have not seen lately to reconnect because they are reminded of the existence of this friend when they look at their timeline.
The thing about Facebook is that you never forget a birthday. As long as people wrote their birth dates into their profile, Facebook will prompt us when their birthdays come. And this made us all seem like we care and we remember.
But the thing with Facebook is that it takes away all the personal touch in our greetings online. We only wish and congratulate you because we see it on Facebook. These are not the friends anyone should be looking for. The ones that are worth keeping close will be those that makes a point to message you personally to get updates on your life and who will make an effort to meet you personally for a birthday celebration. The number of friends on Facebook does not equate to how many true friends you have but only shows how many people know you. If popularity is what you are seeking for, Facebook will help you to showcase that. But if what you want is to have friends that matters and cares for you, take the first step and start showing them that you care for them too. Log-out from Facebook and start ringing them up. It is only through this gesture will you realize whom are the true friends that you want in your life.
